NEW IN 3.5
- Your Apple Watch now gets its routines from your iPhone in seconds instead of days. It used to pull your whole history out of iCloud on its own — every set you had ever logged, routines arriving last — which on a big history could take days and sometimes stopped making progress altogether. Your iPhone now sends the watch what it actually needs, and workouts you log on your wrist come back in seconds. The watch still works on its own with your phone in the locker; open Gym Log+ on your iPhone with your watch nearby to pick up routine changes
- One list of routines on the watch, instead of separate "On iPhone" and "On Watch" copies of the same thing. Tap a routine and it starts on your iPhone if it's nearby — so you can log from your phone or your wrist, whichever is closer — and on the watch if it isn't
- You can now add an exercise from your watch to a workout running on your iPhone. A freeform workout started on the phone used to leave the watch with nothing to log until you went back to the phone
- The month calendar on History stays put while your workouts scroll underneath it. It rules off each week, marks today in colour, keeps the day you tap filled in, and a Today button brings you back once you've paged away. Tap a rest day for the session before it, or the month name to jump to any month you've trained in
- An exercise's stats, opened while you're training, now start with what you've done TODAY — sets, reps, volume, your heaviest — above your all-time numbers
- Auto-advance waits a moment before moving you to the next exercise, so you see the set that finished the last one land. Tapping LOG during that pause moves you on straight away
- The plate calculator takes a bar weight of 0, for plate-loaded machines like a leg press — it reads "No bar" so you can see it took
FIXED
- A set you log on your watch while your iPhone is running the workout can no longer go missing. The watch used to buzz "logged" whether or not the set reached your phone. It now waits to see it arrive, keeps hold of anything that hasn't landed and sends it again when your phone is back, and shows "Waiting for iPhone" while it's holding one
- Sets you log on your watch appear there the moment you tap LOG, rather than reaching your iPhone first — and your iPhone's reps and weight boxes now move on to the next set, the way they do when you log on the phone
- Personal records on your watch's finish screen are worked out by your iPhone, so they count your whole history rather than whatever the watch happened to be holding
- A record on your workout summary now means you beat a SET — a heaviest lift or a best estimated 1RM. More total volume than any past session still gets its line, but no longer wears the trophy: a single extra set at the same weight earned it, so it was firing most sessions and making the real records mean less
- Your Apple Watch no longer adds an empty "Me" profile to your iPhone
- An accidental double-tap on LOG no longer records the set twice
- "Match History to Routine" now finds sessions whose routine no longer exists — brought over from the old app, or run from a routine you have since deleted and remade
- Logging responds quicker while you type, and History and Stats stay smooth on long histories
